Membership application

Dear Prospective Member,

We are delighted that you are considering joining the Holliston Garden Club.

The Holliston Garden Club was formed to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening and floral design, to aid in the protection and conservation of natural resources, and to promote the beautification of our town.
The Holliston Garden Club is celebrating their 75th anniversary, and is one of the 190 clubs within the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.

Becoming a Member if you are interested in becoming a member, please fill out the form by following the link at the top of the page.
Upon receipt of the application, you will be invited to attend a program to get a better sense of the Club and its activities, and to meet some of our members. Annual membership dues are $30 and include the Club’s monthly programs, newsletter and Yearbook, as well as membership to the Federation and subscription to the Mass Federation Newsletter.
As a Club member, you will be required to attend at least six meetings per year, to participate in at least two Community Service functions, to donate plants for the Plant Sale, and to serve as a hostess at some of our meetings. You may also participate in any of the the Club’s ongoing activities.

Club Activities

Programs Our club’s programs are dedicated to the education and appreciation of Horticulture, Landscape and Floral Design, Gardening and Environmental concerns for our members. Renowned experts are invited to give talks and hands-on demonstrations at monthly meetings which are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month, September through June. Additional in-club workshops and board meetings are also held on Tuesday evenings.

Federation Offerings In addition to our own Club’s programs, members are eligible to attend programs sponsored by the Massachusetts Federation. Horticultural Meetings, Design Principles, and Design Workshops are all held at the Espousal Center, West Waltham. Classes are offered in Garden Study, Landscape Design, Environmental Study, and Flower Show School.

Floral Design The Holliston Garden Club is a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. Members have won numerous awards for floral designs at Elm Bank, Tower Hill, the Museum of Fine Arts, the New England Spring Flower Show and other regional competitions.

Civic Activities The Club’s 40 members are actively involved in numerous civic projects, including:

Planting of more than 100 trees in Holliston as part of the annual Arbor Day Program

Providing library passes for area botanical gardens

Floral designs for the Holliston Manor nursing home

Intergenerational gardening programs

Book donations and magazine subscriptions to the Library

Planting and maintaining the Library park, the daffodil trail in the town center and perennial
beds at several traffic islands

Scholarships and grants for education, horticulture, and agriculture to Holliston residents

Fundraising Funding for the Club’s programs and civic activities is generated by the annual Plant Sale in May, the holiday floral design presentation in November and the biennial Garden Tour.
